Visio the Art Funnel

Visio funnels art into dullery
If there is a creative bone in your body, Visio will surely suck it dry.

Can you expand on what you mean by this? Visio is meant as a tool to create diagrams not dictate design and functionality or as a replacement for PhotoShop or Fireworks. What is it about Visio that is sucking your creative bone dry? Just curious.

    Hmm, cool. Thanks for asking.

This drawing was plucked from a nightly sketchbook diary that I started a few weeks ago, so this I suppose is a bit more personal in nature. It’s more about how I’ve been feeling at my job lately, less of an over-arching statement about Visio, although now I can totally see why it appears that way on this site.

I consider myself a fairly creative person, and until recently I have been working as a Web Design Generalist, which included a lot of visual design work and illustration. More recently, 99% of my time has been spent in Visio creating Technical Specifications, and I’ve just been struggling with the lack of variety in my work, the lack of creativity in the Spec writing process, and also just the frustrations of using Visio — there are a lot of little things about Visio that I find really irritating.

    Thanks for asking!!
