No More CrapSense, er, AdSense on Fixpert
Well, you all were very patient with me last month, as I ran ads everywhere on this site: (god-awful) image ads in the RSS feed, text ads on the homepage and on article pages.
As a User Experience Designer, it was a good experiment for me to run, to go through the process of setting it all up and seeing how it affected my site. But it made my stomach turn every time I saw those craptastic image ads in my RSS reader especially.
And what about returns? Well, I’m sure I could have experimented and tweaked and refined, but this site isn’t here to make money. I run tasteful-ish text-based ads from a service called Text Link Ads in the right rail, and that covers my cost of hosting, but I’m not trying to feed myself with Fixpert.
