Does Anyone Else Get Depressed Reading Their Comment Spam?

I have this awesome Wordpress plugin called Akismet that helps trap a lot of comment spam on this site. However, I noticed that occasionally a real (non-spammy) comment gets trapped in the Akismet queue, so every so often I have to scroll through the list of trapped comment spam to make sure no real comments were filtered out.
This process always brings my mood down a notch. The lists of spammy keywords that these horrible people produce is some of the most vile, horrible, disgusting stuff ever. Descriptions of terrible people doing terrible things to anything from animals to children. It makes me sad that there is apparently a market for this garbage out there. So gross.
I gotta go watch some cartoons as a psychic palette cleanser.

Hey, that’s an interesting point! Comment spam is far nastier than anything that comes into my inbox. I wonder why that is.

I actually find them entertaining sometimes: “I simply mad about this forum! I is pleasantly amazed! Thank!!! This simply prodigy!”

I have exactly the same problem. I’ve stopped bothering to read the disgusting crap and I risk possibly missing a falsely mis-identified comment, but I feel physically ill after reading some of the crud; so I stopped reading it… I just “delete all” regularly now.
About twice a day spam gets through akismet and sits in my moderation queue.
That’s bad enough.

I love spam…it makes me feel ridiculously fulfilled to know that someone bothered to send me something - much less eleventy million somethingys!!! I read them all, especially the ones from insurance agencies. I mean what the fuck is that shit. Do I really need to get my insurance from someone so desperate that they’re spamming random blogs with useless catch phrases surrounding their web address? Get that crap out of there; I mean, I’m trying to figure out who gets to fill my next order of viagra!

i read this blog from time to time, and i dont read the comments. i think that sometimes they are hilarous, i.e. “I simply mad about this forum! I is pleasantly amazed! Thank!!! This simply prodigy!†but spam is good- good salty meat…lol. from wi btw. i contributed.
